Leading Your Lost Teen Home by Mark Gregston

When you're lost, having someone to lovingly lead the way back home is a wonderful blessing.  That, not shaming or lecturing, is what teenagers need from their parents when they are lost.

A few years back I bought a GPS (Global Positioning System) device.  For me, it may be the single best idea since the invention of fire.  It always knows right where I am…it never judges my ability (or inability) to navigate…and more importantly, it knows how to get me to where I need to go, and back home again.  With as much as I travel, I don't know how I could function without it.

Likewise, parents need to be a GPS in the life of their teenager.

Jehovah-Raah -- (yeh-ho-vaw' raw-aw') The Lord My Shepherd

Use in the Bible: In the Old Testament Jehovah-Raah (The Lord my Shepherd) is used in Psalm 23.

Variant spellings: Jehovah Rohi; Jehovah Ro'eh

TWOT Reference: 2185, 2186

Strong's Reference: 7462

Jehovah-Raah in the Septuagint: kurios poimainei me — the Lord shepherds me

Meaning and Derivation: Jehovah is translated as "The Existing One" or "Lord." The chief meaning of Jehovah is derived from the Hebrew word Havah meaning "to be" or "to exist." It also suggests "to become" or specifically "to become known" — this denotes a God who reveals Himself unceasingly. RĂ´'eh from which Raah derived, means "shepherd" in Hebrew. A shepherd is one who feeds or leads his flock to pasture (Eze 34:11-15). An extend translation of this word, rea', is "friend" or "companion." This indicates the intimacy God desires between Himself and His people. When the two words are combined — Jehovah Raah — it can be translated as "The Lord my Friend."

Further references of the name Jehovah-Raah in the Old Testament: Gen 48:15; Gen 49:24; Psa 23:1; Psa 80:1

Fathering the Heart by Patrick Morley & David Delk

To know what something is, sometimes you have to know what it’s not.

WRONG: FATHERING FOR PERFORMANCE

“My son is getting straight A’s,” boasted John’s dad. “He’s a starter on the football team, and, best of all, he isn’t into earrings, tattoos, and all that weirdness. He’s not like so many kids today.”

What’s wrong with this picture? Maybe nothing, but maybe a lot. More...

Don't Waste Your Cancer by John Piper

I write this on the eve of prostate surgery. I believe in God's power to heal—by miracle and by medicine. I believe it is right and good to pray for both kinds of healing. Cancer is not wasted when it is healed by God. He gets the glory and that is why cancer exists. So not to pray for healing may waste your cancer. But healing is not God's plan for everyone. And there are many other ways to waste your cancer. I am praying for myself and for you that we will not waste this pain.  More...

Getting God’s Help with Stress by Joyce Meyer

Today it seems like everyone’s stressed.

Yes, it’s true that we’re built to withstand a certain amount of stress, and it can help us to become better problem solvers. But we shouldn’t be so stressed that we can’t handle our day-to-day life.

There’s only so much we can take.  More...

Getting There by Oswald Chambers

They said to Him, ’Rabbi . . . where are You staying?’ He said to them, ’Come and see’ —John 1:38-39

Where our self-interest sleeps and the real interest is awakened. “They . . . remained with Him that day . . . .” That is about all some of us ever do. We stay with Him a short time, only to wake up to our own realities of life. Our self-interest rises up and our abiding with Him is past. Yet there is no circumstance of life in which we cannot abide in Jesus.  More...

I Am the Lord That Healeth Thee - Smith Wigglesworth

“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him” (James 5 :14, 15) .

We have in this precious word a real basis for the truth of healing. In this scripture God gives very definite instructions to the sick. If you are sick, your part is to call for the elders of the church; it is their part to anoint and pray for you in faith, and then the whole situation rests with the Lord. When you have been anointed and prayed for, you can rest assured that the Lord will raise you up. It is the word of God.  More...

Heirs Together of the Grace of Life by Jack Hayford

Wives…husbands…being heirs together of the grace of life…. (1 Peter 3:1, 7)

It is unlike anything else on the face of the planet!

I’m speaking of the unique dynamic in Jesus Christ that is released when a married couple recognizes the power of their agreement in prayer. Spirit-filled living is central to the powerful possibilities of the married couple. As God develops a husband and wife’s relationship, they begin to exist as a unique identity—the one He designed them to become when the two were joined. There is no counterpart to it in all of creation. When the Bible says that “the two shall become one” (Matt. 19:5; Mark 10:8; Eph. 5:31),  it is saying much more about their union than that periodically a husband and wife are joined sexually. The two become another entity; a sum greater than their parts. There is an awesome potential in the marriage partnership, but it’s available only when built upon the foundation of a growing relationship between husband and wife.
